In the Workroom Recap : Week 258

Hi guys! Another week over for Needlings!

I started the week off after art crawl sending off a big batch of goodies to Dots & Loops in Lunenburg.

Then I got going on a restock for Kid Icarus!

Owl Mamas and cell sleeves all finished! Lots of littles and keychains left to go but took a break from the restock to make and send off a big robot to the Netherlands!

And it's on its way! And now I'm back to work on that stack of littles there. Robots, kitties, and owlings before stocking up on keychains then they'll all be headed off to Kid Icarus in Toronto.

Looks like there will be a few more weeks of restocking stores before getting ready for holiday shows. HOLIDAYS! I can't believe how quickly they pop up. Lots to do!

See you next week friends!

In the Workroom Recap : Week 257

Hello again!

This week was a busy one topped off with my last outdoor show of the year to end off a busy late summer/fall show season. I think the busiest one yet for Needlings - from Fan Expo in August to this last Art Crawl, we'll be taking a month break from shows to get the stores that carry Needlings all stocked up! Don't worry though, there will be lots of work to talk about!

After finishing up the Littles I was working on at the end of last week, I had a little custom squirrel keychain order come in.
I realized halfway in that I didn't have a squirrel doodle to go with it so I of course took a break to do that!

After packing the little squirrel and a few more orders - I got to work on a big batch of cell phone sleeves that will be heading out to a couple stores this coming week!

I said it was a big batch!

And finished!

I then donned my new work uniform/Needlings skirt and headed out to Art Crawl on a chilly Friday night!

I was sharing a tent with my favourite knitter (and mom) of The Nature of Mary Jane. We had a fun night downtown and thankfully bundled up enough to stay warm.

Super fun! I am looking forward to doing a December market in the same spot (but inside) for the 5th year in a row.

But for now, I'm back to the workroom to finish off a few orders and pack up boxes to be sent out to stores!

See you next week guys!

In the Workroom Recap : Week 256

Hello again! Happy Thanksgiving to my Canadian friends and happy regular weekend to the rest of you!

I am so excited for these chilly nights and leaves of the ground I can hardly contain myself.  Everything feels cozier, doesn't it?

Well, this week was spent working on some goodies for restocks that will be sent out to a few stores after October Art Crawl on James St. North in Hamilton on the 12th. Less than a week away! The last half of the year is a big blur of shows and sewing to me in some ways - I can hardly believe it's "mid-October" already! A good blur though, I promise!

So, the work! Had to get some Owl Mamas going first of course.

I finished those up and before starting on stocking up on a few Littles and filling some orders, I decided to do a little personal "hair craft."

I love turquoise!

I figured the boss wouldn't mind! (P.S. the boss is me!) I might get a little braver and let the turquoise take over a little bit more next time since I love it so much. It was pretty funny sewing with blue stuff in my hair though. Quite a professional workspace we have here over at the Needlings' headquarters!

So enough of that silliness and back to the serious plush making business...

I finished up these little guys and took care of a few orders and now I'll be having some Thanksgiving family times before starting work on a batch of phone sleeves and more goodies for art crawl on Friday!

Keep your fingers crossed for no rain for me! See you next week! ♥

In the Workroom Recap : Week 255

Hey guys! I did it! Back in a week!

Week 255 consisted of organizing my to-do list, dropping off some goodies to Chapters, and workroom times getting ready for a craft show in Waterdown on Saturday!

Before I got started, I had some fun planning out another fun thing to make just for myself, another skirt! Seeing as how my to-do list over the next couple months is bursting at the seems (sewing pun, ha) I may not get around to it for a little bit but I at least know what I'll do once I take the time to!  I took some time to dye some cream coloured fabric I had laying around a nice milk chocolatey colour.  So it's all ready and waiting for some extra non-Needlings sewing time...

I managed to get a little homey doodle in before dropping off some goodies at Chapters and working on a batch of Little Robots, Minou Kitties, and Little Owlings.

All stocked up on Littles at Chapters!

(phone pic - oops, forgot my camera)

Then sewing time!

And we were ready to go for the craft show!  I also received an amazing unexpected gift the day before the show from my crafty friend Lisa ofNerdbiskit : a new craft show apron! It is wonderful in all it's custom-made for Needlings glory. I'm so lucky to have such sweet friends!

And I got to use it the very next day at the craft show in Waterdown!
I had my mom's knits on the table this time, The Nature Of Mary Jane, and had a nice day hanging out with my table neighbour, Jen of Sparklegirl.

Now I have two weeks to concentrate on restocking a couple stores then I'll be back down on James Street North in Hamilton at the Makers' Market for October Art Crawl!

I can hardly believe September is over but October and November are two more of my faves!
See you all next week!

I Lied (Belated Recaps)

Remember when I said I would "be back next week with a recap of Locke Street Festival?" Obviously I lied to you as it is now magically September 21st and you have been recap-less.

Firstly, PLEASE FORGIVE ME! I have slacked on my recap posts, but I will tell you that it only feels like a week later to me!

Secondly, September 2012 marks Needlings five years of existence. Can you believe it? 5 years of sewing Needlings and I couldn't be happier about it! In honour of this milestone, I am giving you an opportunity to enter to win lots of Needlings goodies.  Pop on over to the Needlings facebook page to enter.

Thirdly, get ready for three weeks of workroom recaps, weeks 252-254, and two show recaps in one! In one!

Locke Street Festival and then Supercrawl a week apart so soon after Fan Expo took me for a bit of a loop.  They were both amazing of course! Hamilton came out in full force for both events (even though there was rain for the first few hours of Locke Street) which kept me busy sewing like a madwoman for these few weeks.

First I had to stock up on a few extra littles!

Locke Street Festival came and so we headed out in the crazy wet downpour to set up in the rain!  Lucky nothing got too wet and it even cleared up enough to turn out to be a sunny beautiful (and really busy) show day!

Callie the pup also enjoyed her first festival!

It was fun to do a great Hamilton show and get a chance to see lots of familiar faces. I was also excited to be set up right across the street from Little Bird's new location inside of The Button Pushers with a few Needlings in the window!

It was such a great day on Locke Street in Hamilton and I had lots to do the week after to stock up for Supercrawl for the following Saturday!

I did what I could! We headed out on Saturday morning to James Street North in Hamilton to set up. It was chilly but beautiful and exciting!

I was quite happy with the booth that day! And happy I managed to fill the table again so soon after Locke Street Festival!

(With Lisa of Nerdbiskit and Callie!)

There were amazing art and music performances all day! So much fun! I can hardly wait until next year now.  It's events like these that make me fall in love with Hamilton and feel so proud to be a part of it.

And now back to reality (which involves a lot of the same sort of stuff really)! On to restocking lots of shops waiting on more Needlings! First on the list is Homespun in Indiana!

Whew! Off they'll go this weekend then on to more! I now have a to do list longer than it has ever been and even more to sew! I will be back in another 20 days for another workroom recap! Just kidding, I'll only be a week this time!
